Difficult situation. The thing is the law sides with the police officer and it words under the assumption that the officer was in the right and you were in the wrong. I'd say it's best to comply with the officer's order and definitely don't retaliate.

What's racist about some officers arresting somebody? If the cops would have been black would you have been OK with their actions? These ridiculous accusations of racism are only preventing any rational debate about this issue from taking place.

It's things like this that make US cops so jumpy. They know at any moment they can be killed by some nutter which makes them very nervous whenever they are in a confrontational situation. Cops in Europe are a lot more chilled.

What a ridiculous comment. Cops need to apply the law as it is. Why should they have let her go? Why are you assuming them not letting her go was because they are racist? If the cops had been black you have said the same thing about them?

It has to be the ways to keep calm and properly deal with people. The fact is police forces regularly have to deal with violent or unstable people and they have to know how to handle these situations without resorting to violence, which, sadly, is not always possible.

They have to right to enter your house without your permission if they have a warrant or if they see / think some crime is being committed inside. If somebody is beating their partner and their neighbors call the police they are allowed to enter the house and stop the crime from being committed.

I wonder if his girlfriend knew about his past history with domestic violence. Perhaps people with such a history should be required to disclose it to any potential partners they have. or maybe that would be a little too over the top.

The shooting seemed a little harsh if you ask me but then again we can't really be sure of what was going on in the car and what the officer was seeing the driver do.

They can blend in perfectly if they want to, there isn't some sort of universal way of detecting them. I'm not sure it's worth spending your time looking after them either. Just drive safely instead of going berserk at the wheel in order to shave 5 minutes off of your commute.

Sad to hear such news. Hopefully the police will be cleared of any charges. Something there's nothing they can do and they have to use force to protect themselves and the public.
