HOUSTON. Dalia Iris Alfaro, 18, works as a dancer at Sin City, a gentleman's club in southwest Houston found herself standing in front of a Harris County Judge Wednesday morning to hear the charges that were filed against her for causing a crash that resulted in a death the day before.
About 6:30 a.m. police saw Alfaro driving a silver Dodge pickup truck 60 miles an hour in a 35 mph zone on Westheimer near Gessner.
The HPD police officer followed the suspect and made an attempt to pull her over. Alfaro didn't pull over for the officer instead she took off heading westbound on Westheimer with the officer pursuing.
The suspect hit a car at the intersection of Kirkwood and Westheimer and proceeded without stopping.
The vehicle stopped. Officers pulled up, got out of the patrol vehicle and at that point, the suspect's vehicle reversed and took off again, said Victor Senties, spokesperson for the police.
A witness at the accident said when he saw the accident he got out of his vehicle to see if the driver was alright but before he reached Alfaro's car she took off.
Police said Alfaro was going as fast as 85 mph when she went through a red light at the intersection of Eldridge Parkway, hit a green Mazda 3 and then hit the driver's side of a gray Chevrolet Impala. Alfaro's pickup bounced off and went and hit a cement mixer truck head-on.
It all happened real fast. Boom, boom, boom, said Bobby Smith, a witness at the scene.
The driver of the Mazda was not injured. The 29-year-old Impala driver died at the scene. Police did not release the names of the people involved in the accident.
Alfaro was sent to Memorial Hermann Hospital Southwest to be treated for some minor injuries. After doctors took care of her injuries, Alfaro had her blood drawn, and she was determined to be legally drunk. The police then filed charges against her.
Dressed in blue hospital scrubs, Alfaro sat on a bench in the courtroom, and it looked as she crossed her heart and said a prayer as she was waiting to be called to face the judge.
Police charged Alfaro with murder and intoxication manslaughter. Her combined bond amounts totaled $80,000.
It was her decision to flee from the officer and you see what the result was. It cost an innocent citizen their life, Senties said.
A person who answered the phone where Alfaro works, Sin City the gentleman's club had no comment about the incident.
This isn't the first time Alfaro has been in trouble with the law, according to court documents, she has prior convictions of evading arrest, graffiti and possession of marijuana.

It is so unfortunate when someone with so much potential chooses the wrong path. She has caused the death of someone and damaged her life before she has barely lived it. Drugs have no benefits yet the youth keep abusing them. I hope that she gets rehabilitated; my condolences to the family of the innocent person who died as a result.

That is a lesson to be learnt , one mistake has led to a huge mistake, that is going to cost her alot, she should have just pulled over, I wonder what makes people think that it is easy to run a way from the cops , then get away with it, she would have gotten a ticket, but now she has a long sentence to serve.
