A man who was suspected of shoplifting escaped from a police car Saturday afternoon in East Harlem, the NYPD said. Authorities have released a surveillance video of the suspected shoplifter who had escaped from a police vehicle in East Harlem. Police say they handcuffed and put the suspect in a cruiser but he managed to open the door and take off. Authorities say he was caught later that day. The officer has been suspended.
