Vitamins are garbage

For one, you don't need them. There is literally no evidence that vitamins can benefit you more then a healthy diet can. in fact, look around you, does it look like the medical industry is helping our society at all? It's 2014 and most people are unhealthy. Even people focused on their healthy are unhealthy. It's not your fault. The one thing that is never talked about is the secret behind it all.
Toxins. We eat, breath and drink toxic products all the time. The reason people are so unhealthy is because, their bodies are polluted and most likely they are not doing anything about it.

People love to think and live in a lazy way that is easy for them. People have been brainwashed into relying on pills. I don't know about you but, based on what I see, these pills are not working!

The focus should not be on vitamins and supplements. The focus should be on detoxifying the body and eating properly. Vitamins only add additional stress to our bodies. They are not food. Our bodies should not be focusing on absorbing vitamins, it should be focused on using the "food" that you have consumed.

Most people don't even know what food is. If you eat something that has no nutritional value, it is hardly food in my opinion. What does are body need? Our body needs amino acids and healthy fats. Green veggies are a great source of amino acids and as for healthy fats, ask google for a list to choose from. Anywhere from fish to avocados, there are many foods to choose from.

Instead of using logic, people are wanted to "trust". Our health system is based on the same principal as religion, which is faith. They want us to have faith in their vitamins, supplements, etc - instead of taking the SIMPLE steps needed to live a healthy life.

Instead of thinking vitamins and supplements, start thinking about toxins and parasites. Those are the real concerns in the human body. If you eat a healthy diet, you are taking in all that you need.

One thing I like to do once a week to give my body a break is to "fast". I wake up on Thursday mornings and I go about my day. I might even workout first thing in the morning. I wake up around 7am and I don't have my first meal until 4pm that day. This is an easy way to relieve some stess from your body.

When you are in a fasted state having gone 18+ hours without food, your body focuses on healing itself. When you are sick you have no appetite, why? For the same reason fasting is good for you - your body feeds on the unhealthy cells before anything else when you are in a fasted state.

I could go a week without food - I've done this before. But, if you go too long without food, make sure to be taking in amino acids and healthy fats. I like to make a pineapple/kale smoothie with coconut oil added in.

If anyone comments saying that this is "starving" the body, I will say this. People have gone months without food and survived. Going 20 hours or even a week is not going to hurt you. Everyone that I know who fasts, has seen nothing but positive results.

I live a very healthy lifestyle and it takes very little effort, as it should. Life is easy.

Hope you enjoyed my rant.

Lol your body does actually need them. That is like saying your body doesn't need "Iron" in the blood. Yeah you are right, no one really knows what food is but you only live once and I don't want to die knowing I shoved carrots in my mouth all day long. I am a guy, I can't go a week without food I would die.

No, actually your body does not require vitamins - all it needs is food. When I say vitamins, I am talking about vitamin "supplements". (pills/powder/etc)

Carrots are sugar. If I was to eat a carrot, in my mind I would classify it as eating junk food. Is it so hard to eat green veggies? You dont need to live off of them but, they should be included in your diet. The reason why guys are so feminine now a days is due to poor diets.
Gotta get your green veggies and healthy fats to have a healthy body. Healthy bodies have healthy hormone levels and are their strongest.

It is very odd that people push away health and prefer to eat in a way that weakens your body. And let me tell you this - high quality meals taste way better then junk food.

I feel better and look better when I take vitamins (not a multi tablet).for the huge majority of healthy individuals with no deficiencies, multivitamins are largely unnecessary, but calling every vit a garbage seems absurd acc to me.

Vitamins made a lot of money. People buying pills for cheap to pretend to cover up their lack of discipline when it comes to living a healthy lifestyle.

They show us vitamin c with nice colourful oranges so that we think of fruit - because fruit is good for us right? (or so they say) Most fruit is not great for us, we do not need the sugar. Apples, oranges and banana's are junk fruits. They brain wash the public on both ends. They create an imaginary problem (vitamin deficiency) and on one side they make a pill for you to take and on the other they offer low quality fruits and tell you that both are good for you when there is no evidence that they are.

All that our bodies require are amino acids and fats. Those are the only things we need to focus on. Besides that, keep your body toxin free, or close to it.

They push vitamins on people while at the same time we see them pushing "low fat diets" on people. We need fat. Healthy fats make strong bodies. People are so brain washed that they believe eating fats makes you fat when in reality most of the "fat" on an over weight person is INFECTED TISSUE and INFLAMMATION.

Feed your body don't tease your body with junk products. And they are junk products because, they make you think that your body is benefiting from them when its not.

If what the doctor told you was true, then this world wouldnt be so unhealthy. There is a lot of money to be made off of unhealthy people. I dont blame them for a good business strategy - that is what this is.

As a college student working full time to pay my rent, car payments, gas, books, tuition, etc., it would be fiscally irresponsible for me to spend more money on food to get all of the vitamins and protein that I need when I can buy supplements for much cheaper. Multivitamins are cheap and not at all time consuming to keep up with. If you stay within the very practical recommended dose, you're not going to harm yourself.

In addition to this, my body is going to be vitamin deficient when I'm on a cut because I'm not eating much. Eating multivitamins ensures that I'm getting the vitamins that my body needs while maintaining a healthy cut.

I have already read dozens of articles claiming different things about vitamins. One side argues that vitamins are essential, while the other does not. I didn't take supplements a while back because I always felt that everything is just marketing. However, I got really sick one time that it took me weeks to recover. My doctor advised me to take vitamins to help boost my immune system.

I agree that the food we eat contain the vitamins that we need. However, before we reach the daily value that our body needs, we would need to eat a lot first. Doing so might complicate our health in other ways. I think that vitamins help us gain our daily needs. There is really nothing wrong with taking one a day.

I mean obviously they are not a substitute for a healthy diet. But it doesn't hurt to take a multivitamin once a day. They have certain minerals that are hard to get from even if you eat more than 10+ fruits and vegetables a day. Might as well take it. If you have figured out a diet to get all the vitamins and minerals you need without a multivitamin then that is better of course.

Health is the highest form of intelligence. You can take the easy way out with "hopes" in the form of pills and make the excuse that "I cant afford to buy enough food" etc. It is all an excuse that the public has been brainwashed with.

Health is simple and health is affordable. People spend hundreds of dollars per month on food and complain about the cost of eating healthy. Junk food is more expensive. It is cheaper to eat healthy. Go to Mcdonalds and pay $10 or more for a "meal" or cook for yourself using fresh products and you can be eating more then 1 meal per $10 invested.

I make spinach spaghetti and that is super cheap to make. I end up making more then people can eat and we have left overs all the time. (like most meals we make)
Spaghetti
Spinach
Butter (real butter not margarine)
Olive oil
Cheese
Chicken

Or how about spinach wraps (I love spinach)
Make a wrap with spinach, chicken or fish, cocnut oil, mayonaise.

It is so cheap to eat healthy. Those are simple examples. I am always making different pastas and I make tubs full for cheap. I always do my best to make too much rather then too little. Health is a priority in my life.

Quit buying junk food and start buying foods to cover 2 food groups. The first one is "healthy fats" and the second is "green veggies".

Once a week I like to fast until supper time - meaning I do not eat my first meal one day a week until about 5pm. When you go long periods of time without food, your body feeds on the unhealthy cells before the healthy ones. (Which is why sick people lsoe their appetite FUN FACT)

When you cut out all the garbage and excuses, you are left with great health at a fair price and you will be well fed. Your body does not crave sugar, it craves fat. Too many people do not get enough healthy fats and their body turns sugars into fat to make up for it. Eat healthy and you will lose all cravings for junk food.

You pay $10+ for a meal at McDonalds? I can get 3 McChickens for like $3.30

Well personally i believe vitamins do have their effect on the fitness of an individual because come to think of it every single day in our various exercise routines we keep burning energy and certainly that energy that we are burning comes from vitamins

They can be garbage, but not at all times, there are times when one actually needs to take vitamins, when you are lacking certain ones in you system then it is advisable to take the vitamin supplements.

I agree. If your food intake is inbalanced, you should supplement whatever you are missing. In some cases it might be vitamins, in other cases it might be calcium or essential oils.

Of course the ideal situation is that you would eat a balanced diet and not have to rely on any supplements, but realistically that cannot always apply.

I don't think men are "feminine". Is that saying that we're skinny or that we have feminine features? It all depends on what you want to do with your body. There have been people who live long and happy lives who don't go on strict diets of nutritional foods. And there have been people who treat their bodies like shrines who end up sick. It's all up to chance if you ask me. I don't think we should purposely damage our bodies and leave it up to chance. But I also don't think the answer lies in a strict formula for everyone.

Not that you are wrong. But with how different toxins around us is affecting our health and diet we could really use the help of vitamins. As this is to augment the dietary insufficiency of the food we take. And some people are vitamin deficit because of the illness they have. Indeed to much of something is not good and to little of it is not good also. Balance and moderation in taking vitamins should be done.

I appreciate your post and a lot of the points you presented were valid, but to base all of this off of your own personal experience and then push it off as fact is a little absurd. As a person who used to weigh 350 pounds and now weighs 120, I know what it means to be both healthy AND unhealthy. Until you've walked both sides of the road you really shouldn't be so condescending towards other people who are trying their best to look after their bodies.

Also, you said that you workout without eating and while fasting? Your body HAS to get its energy from somewhere. If you're exercising after a full night's sleep without any food in your belly, your body is going to destroy your muscle to get energy.

I am a both a certified dietitian and certified Zumba fitness instructor. Advising people to exercise on an empty stomach is pretty much the most ignorant, misinformed thing you can do. I'm sorry if that seems rude for me to say but you are giving people dangerous advice with no studies or information to back it up. It's really unnecessary.

I personally think that it's pretty ignorant to say that people who eat McDonald's don't have respect for themselves. That's what the comment implied, regardless of intent. Statistically speaking, with the number of sales throughout the fast food industry, that would imply that a HUGE portion of the population has no self-respect. I personally have the utmost respect for anyone who is trying to eat healthy and live a clean life, but I don't think that they need to be elitist ass-hats to do so. Does it really make you feel that much better about yourself to put someone else down? Maybe you could focus on the good you're doing your own body, and not try to shame someone else into thinking like you do?

I've been eating Vegan for about 3 months now, and I've certainly seen a huge difference in my body and energy levels, but I'm not about to go out and condemn those that eat the occasional chicken nugget. Your way isn't the only way, I don't care how special your mom told you that you are.

As far as vitamins in general go. I think they can be a good think if you're not getting what you need from a balanced diet, but sometimes I think money and effort is going to waste when people take more than they need, and it does no more good for them. Balance seems to be the key to everything.

I think vitamin supplements are needed for certain conditions, but as far as taking them everyday and thinking you are healthy because of it is stupid. Most vitamins like that are flushed from your system when you pee anyway and not fully absorbed. I would recommend making your own blends of supplements through smoothies and a better diet. Juicing is a grwat way to go also and can give you a lot more bang for your buck over vitamins.
