How Old Does a Child Need to Be to Stay Home Alone?

It's all about trust in the child, since if anything goes wrong you can both be held liable for any damage and also be charged with abandoning your child if something happens to him/her. But for most parents, once your child is in his or her tweens or early teens, they should be responsible...

    Accident scams

Although obviously this was a totally unnecessary inconvenience to your friend, it's good to hear that the case was turned. I was worried he would actually be held liable in the situation. It might be hard to prove you didn't cause an accident.

    Living by the sword.

Like people in other professions, cops need to understand their personal weaknesses, and either try to work with people who complement their weaknesses and strengths, or try to keep their weaknesses from effecting their job performance.

    Race

I think it's important to have a population officers that mirrors the community it serves. I believe that the people who hire police also have this idea, so race may be a factor.

    Starting pay for a rookie?

I think the amount of pay you would receive would also depend on the area that you are working. Nicer neighborhoods will need fewer cops but will likely pay them more.

Do police retire poor or rich?

It depends on how money is managed, their investments, and their family. But it does seem like cops don't get paid that much, and do need their pensions.

Should one give out bribes to the police after being arrested illegally?

No, because then you actually are committing a crime. Go to the station or wherever, and explain. It's easier and smarter to take some extra time to stay within the law.

    Children?

I was just wondering if, on the forces people worked on, the majority of people had children and families. I wanted to know if policemen are less or more likely than civilians to have families, or if when they get families they change lines of work.

    Professional Athletes?

Although it doesn't sound like my one of lifestyle, it's hard not to respect someone with that kind of dedication. That's someone who knows what they want and will do what's necessary to get it.

What are your views on all cops having to wear a camera while on duty?

People who worry about the idea of filming police forget that it is, if anything, more beneficial to police. With cameras, policemen have an unbiased source saying they did the right thing, which I'm sure is true in the majority of cases.

    Which Crimes Aren't That Serious?

Dealing pot, alcohol possession by minors. Really any drug crime could be considered minor depending on your views of people putting things in their own bodies. The war on drugs definitely made prison sentences for drug crimes harsher, some might say too harsh. Some would also say prostitution...

Do You Think Gun Cams Should Be Mandated?

It's very hard to argue against this since, if you're not doing anything wrong, you have nothing to hide. By working as a policeman, you work to serve the community, and must be held to a higher standard. No matter what the privacy concerns are, it seems like gun-cams are the way to get rid of...

    Should I Talk?

I've gotten advice that when I'm stopped on the street or pulled over, I shouldn't reply to questions. But it seems like its not a big deal, especially if I'm not gonna incriminate myself. Also, should I consent to a search? Or should I refuse if there's no warrant or probable cause?

    Doughnuts?

Yeah, maybe cops also like them, but where I live, practically everyone goes to Dunkin for a morning coffee and donut run. This is one of those weird specific stereotypes that really apply to everyone.
